Nature, in the context of photography invites visions of sweeping landscapes and breathtaking panoramas. More often than not, the viewer accepts the image as a realistic portrayal of the scene as captured by the photographer. My project serves to challenge the assumption of what is deemed as natural landscapes. With pun fully intended, “Natural Landscapes” is an attempt to blur the lines between the forest from the trees.
The deconstruction is created by using different food items (sauces, spreads, juices etc) to create landscapes. Using macro lenses and extreme close up shots, I intend to recreate landscape photography in the studio. Effects from post production will also be utilised to mimic the elements of landscape photography. Indeed, whilst we appreciate the majesty of picturesque panoramas, we must also consider the produce, raw materials and most importantly, the food that come from these sweeping landscapes.
